When they take the field Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, both the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars hope to have different starting quarterbacks than in their most recent game. For the Chiefs (5-2), they will go with backup quarterback Nick Foles in the starters seat, stepping in for Alex Smith, who is being held out of the game because something happened last Sunday in Kansas Citys victory over Indianapolis. More on that later. With the Jaguars (2-5), they will have the same quarterback in the huddle. But coming off the Jags last game, Blake Bortles hopes to be a more finely tuned passer after spending time in Jacksonville with his throwing guru from the west coast. Its a noon CST kickoff for the game where the Chiefs are a heavy favorite and carry a three-game winning streak into the afternoon. The Jaguars have lost their last two and are 1-2 on the road this season.Andy Reids team has been hit with a rash of injuries in recent weeks. Running back Jamaal Charles was placed on the injured-reserve list after a second surgery on a bulky right knee. The offensive engine in the first half of the 2016 season has been running back Spencer Ware, but hes out after suffering a concussion. Starting left guard Parker Ehinger is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.And watching on the sidelines will be Smith, who twice left last Sundays game in Indianapolis after taking blows to the head. However, tests under the NFL concussion protocols during the game and the next day indicated that Smith did not suffer a concussion.Nope, was Smiths answer when asked if he felt like he suffered a concussion against the Colts. But certainly something happened. Dont know what it was, dont know what you want to call it.Despite passing all the tests, the Chiefs made the decision to sit Smith for this game and go with the 27-year old Foles, who is making his 37th NFL start in regular and postseason play. But its his first with the Chiefs after signing with the team in early August.I feel great in this offense; Ive always liked playing for Coach Reid and this offense, said Foles, who was drafted by Reid in 2012 when the coach was in Philadelphia. From week to week, you change things up, but I feel good about where Im at.Bortles hopes that he can feel good about his mechanics after getting extra work with Adam Dedeaux, who is part of the 3DQB Academy in southern California thats run by former major league pitcher and now quarterback Guru Tom House. Concerns about mechanics for the third-year player prompted the call for help.Hopefully, well tighten some things up and get back to where I was throwing the ball with efficiency, said Bortles. When you struggle with what youre supposed to do all the time, you try to fix it as quickly as possible rather than let it get worse.Jags head coach Gus Bailey decided he needed something different in his offense and fired coordinator Greg Olson two days after taking a 36-22 thumping from Tennessee in a Thursday night game on Oct. 27. Olson was replaced by quarterbacks coach Nathanial Hackett, the son of former Chiefs offensive coordinator from the 1990s Paul Hackett.I just felt like the offense needed to be stimulated more in certain areas, said Bailey, who is 14-41 as head coach of the Jaguars. His teams are 5-22 on the road, winning just twice in the last three seasons away from Jacksonville. I looked at it and said, You know what? Offensively, Im not sure whats going to change next week. I just didnt feel where we were going. I just couldnt grasp in my mind that the results were going to change if we continue going in this direction. The Chiefs enter the game with a very fluid situation at running back. Coming back from a torn ACL in his right knee, Charles never really caught fire in the offense. Ware has been the offensive engine for the Kansas City offense, producing yards as a runner and receiver, but he is already ruled out. Just two weeks ago, they traded running back Knile Davis to Green Bay. So Charcandrick West will carry most of the load, something hes done before. Just last week against the Colts he had 60 yards on 16 touches after Ware went down with his concussion near halftime. The team also added running back Bishop Sankey, a former second-round choice of the Tennessee Titans (2014) who was sitting on the New England practice squad. Tuesdays evening slate of NBA action offers up 11 games. Which players should you build around and which players should you fade? Our experts have the answers.Todays panel includes ESPN Fantasys Kyle Soppe, Joe Kaiser, plus DFS expert Renee Miller.Players to build aroundKyle Soppe - DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento KingsFor those who have been paying attention, I kind of love me some Cousins and this is a good spot to experience what owning Boogie feels like if you missed out (or drafted with me) this preseason. Hes an explosive player with plenty of warts, but against a bottom-five rebounding team that is the least efficient defense in basketball? Cmonnn. Only that Russell Westbrook guy has a higher usage rate than Cousins this season and given that the Blazers surrender nearly 45 points a night in the paint, is there any reason to think Cousins cant maintain his December averages (27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks-plus-steals)? Im not thinking so. The Blake Griffin injury has made some dirt cheap options viable in the short-term and with the most efficient offense in NBA history playing the Nets tonight, there are value plays aplenty north of the border. At the very least, you get entertainment value from watching Cousins, but I expect strong bang for your DFS buck as well.Renee Miller -- Garrett Temple, Sacramento KingsTemple is so affordably priced that he allows you to build around him with expensive guards, expensive centers, or both. There are plenty of ways to go at the top of the salary ladder and guys like Temple make it possible. Temple has been the primary beneficiary of Rudy Gays hip injury, and with Omri Casspi doubtful for tonights game with the Trail Blazers, a game that Vegas has as a pick em with a high total, Temple is again in a position to exceed value. With solid three-category production despite horrible shooting Sunday vs. the Mavericks, Temple has the high floor I like to build around. Its worth noting that hes a much more favorable value on FanDuel.Joe Kaiser -- Chris Paul, Los Angeles ClippersPauls usage rate and scoring will rise in the absence of Blake Griffin and tonight he faces a Denver team that is one of the worst in the league at defending point gguards.dddddddddddd. The Nuggets have also given up 107 points or more in their last three games. If there was ever a night to pay up for one of the highest-priced point guards on the board, this is it.Players to fadeKyle Soppe -- DeAndre Jordan, Los Angeles ClippersWith Blake Griffin sidelined for the next 3-to-6 weeks, Id expect Jordan to assume a greater role in this offense ... and Im not sure thats a good thing. Jordans value comes from hanging around the rim, but if the Clips turn to him for more touches within their half-court offense, they could be taking away his strengths. The Nuggets arent exactly a formidable opponent, but they do lead the league in rebounding rate, which, in theory, is how the Clippers typically get the ball to Jordan. If Im rostering Jordan (or any player with this limited skill set) , Im banking on 15 rebounds and hoping that the points follow. Im not sold on a high floor tonight, so I will be spending big on Cousins at the center position instead of going what I expect to be a very common route with Jordan.Renee Miller -- Anthony Davis, Power Forward, New Orleans PelicansDavis is coming off two really bad (for him) road games against good frontcourt defenses. Hes playing through a painful leg injury which probably hasnt helped matters. He took fewer shots in those games than usual, and while his efficiency was okay, the lack of volume combined with the lack of peripheral stat production has been hurting his bottom line in terms of fantasy points. In particular Davis isnt getting as many points (-10) or rebounds (-4) on the road. The lingering injury, the road tilt and the plethora of other ways I can spend more than $11,000 tonight have me fading Davis even in a good matchup with Philadelphia.Joe Kaiser -- Isaiah Thomas, Boston CelticsThomas has reached 40 DFS points only once in the last six games, battling a groin injury along the way, and tonight he faces a Memphis squad ranked as the top defensive unit in basketball (99.3 points allowed per 100 possessions). This is the wrong time to expect Thomas to bust out with a big game. ' ' '
